“Rolodex power. Your power is almost directly proportional to the thickness of your Rolodex, and the time you spend maintaining it. Put bluntly the most potent people I've known have been the best networkers -- they "know everybody from everywhere" and have just been out to lunch with most of them. 

So who networks best men or women?

One reason (among many) that women may well take over the world of "virtual enterprises" is they seem to have a greater instinct for networking. And the unfettered-by-machismo males who have taken to networking will do better than those who shun it as "sissy stuff." But truth is, it has always been the age of "networkers"; and in an era where organizations depend more and more on tenuously connected outsiders to get the job done, it will only become so.”  

What is the definition of networking/connection?

Thesaurus.com defines connection as:

Entry:	connection
Part of Speech:	noun
Definition:	person who aids another in achieving goal

Let’s talk about that – a person who aids another in achieving goals.  I love that!  What better thing to do than to help others reach their goals? 

Look at the synonyms for the word networking:

Synonyms:

acquaintance, agent, ally, associate, association, contact, friend, go-between, intermediary, kin, kindred, kinship, mentor, messenger, network, reciprocity, relation, relative, sponsor

Behind every great man or woman is a great network!

To network/connect, we must be more than acquaintances – we must Know, Like and Trust the individual in order to help them… how do we do that?  In the early years of networking, I would go to a meeting and leave with no leads.  Have you had that experience?

The first step in meeting this challenge was to join a weekly group where the members were required to share business leads.  Wow, that was difficult at first – to generate five leads a week - who to refer? 

As I got to know the individual business people in my network group; I learned more about their companies and what constituted a good lead for them.  In short, I began to like the people in my group.

Trust was created among us as they handled my referrals in a timely manner. 

Want to Be an Extreme Connector?

I am a connector!  In fact, I am the goddess of Connection!  I want to be the go to person to the max.  I love connecting people and I love consulting and speaking to businesses to show their team members how to connect.

Introduce your business partners (networking associates) to power partners/centers of influence.  That is someone that is in a similar/connected industry.  For example, a realtor may be a great power partner with a title agent or a roofer/home repair business. I just introduced a bridal boutique owner to:

Power Partners ~

 I have taken networking and connecting a step further into this realm of power partnering. I want to really know more about my friends not just locally but my social networking connections.  So as I make friends on FaceBook, for example (where I have over 4500 friends); I don’t just add them but find out more about them by reading their profile/post.   If I see someone who has an interest in something that may benefit another person I know, I try to not just suggest they friend each other but make the introduction via email or a FaceBook message. Power partnering offers such possibilities… these connections ~ infinite possibilities.

Be Authentic ~

Here are the few words; I have to say about being authentic:  It is a must!  If you don’t care and your heart is not in these relationships – they never work in the long term! Don’t you love the fact that we are not competing against one another in the example above?   We are all coaches; whether our business cards state that title or another. We can work together to benefit us, not just personally; our clients benefit from the heart connections.  We have coached and supported one another – not just professionally – I am sure….ask the other gals. The one caveat is being our authentic selves.   

You Must Make the Time ~

I know – you may be thinking – Who has the time?  That is more work than I want to do!  Well, that is how I became a published author, my friends.  Networking! I may not have the writing genius that some of  writers possess; however, it has been a pleasure sharing with you and being published in a book Heart of Success with some very wise sages.  I am grateful and humbled.

Emerging with the New Year: A Shift in the Blog

I wanted to share with you some upcoming changes with the writings here on the blog.  As the pictures emerge, I began a shift what was shared here.  The outpouring of positive feedback has been soul filling.

The Story of Changing Woman - “Estsanatlehi”

A Navajo Legend

Changing Woman comes closest to being the personification of the Earth and of the natural order of the Universe as to any other brief way of describing her. She represents the cyclical path of the Seasons, Birth (Spring), Maturing (Summer), Growing old (Fall) and Dying (Winter), only to be reborn again in the Spring.

The birth of Changing Woman was planned by First Man and First Woman. First Man repeatedly held up his medicine bundle toward Gobernador Knob at dawn. Somehow from this action Changing Woman was born and found lying on top of Gobernador Knob. She was found by Talking God who was sent to investigate. First Man then presented her to the diyinii, saying that you could see that this is the child of the young man and young woman of exceeding beauty who themselves had arisen from the same medicine bundle to become the inner form of the Earth.{*}

First Man raises and teaches Changing Woman. She grew from infancy to puberty in four days, thus acquiring the name Changing Woman. This occasioned the first puberty ceremony. The Holy People were called for and Talking God officiated at the ceremony.

Changing Woman was dressed in jewels (white shell, turquoise, abalone and jet), blessed with pollen from the dawn and from twilight, and with "pollen" from many jewels and soft fabrics, symbolizing her control over these articles. After this blessing, her hair was bathed with dews and she was instructed to run toward the dawn as far as she could see and then to return. As she ran, her dress of jewels jingled. She repeated this for four nights. On these days, when not involved in ceremonies, she occupied herself with planning for the future of the Earth. By the end of the ceremony she had made millstones, a whisk broom, pots and stirring sticks. The songs that were sung for Changing Woman as she ran are sung today for young women at their puberty ceremonies.

At Changing Woman's next menstration another puberty ceremony was held, similar to the first. But at this ceremony other procedures for the future were defined. These decree that no menstruating woman shall be present at any ceremonial. The order of songs at future Blessingway ceremonies was thus determined.

After this ceremony Changing Woman would go outside and walk on the trail which had been prepared for her. One day at noon a strange man walked up to her and spoke to her. He said "Prepare yourself for something that is going to happen, after a while I will visit you." This stranger was so dazzling that Changing Woman had to look away. When she turned back, he was gone. She returned home and reported this encounter to First Woman and First Man. It seems that First Man was expecting this occurence, which happened twice again. On the third time Changing Woman was told to fix her bed outside, with her head to the east. When she fell asleep a young man came and lay beside her. This happened again and she asked who he was. He replied, "Don't you know me? Didn't you ever see me? Don't you know that you see me all the time? It is I that takes care of all things, whatever there is on Earth. I am the Sun's inner form. In my very presence you came into being, in my presence you were put into shape, even I was among them!" He then indicated that First Man had directed him to do this. The next day she decided to bathe because the young man might visit her again.

While bathing the young man appeared again and with the collaboration of the dripping water impregnated Changing Woman. In nine [náhást'éí] days, twins were born to Changing Woman. These twins were to become Monster Slayer and Born for Water. These two also grew in four day periods and in twelve days they were grown young men.

At this point Changing Woman asked for and receives the medicine bundle that First Man had brought up from the previous worlds. She moves to a hooghan that was built for her at the base of Huerfano Mountain. Here she conducted the first wedding ceremony, the mating of corn. After this ceremony Changing Woman leaves for the house that her sons have built for her, at the direction of their father, the Sun, in the west, at or on the Pacific Ocean.

Here Changing Woman grew lonely and created the Navajo People from skin rubbed off various parts of her body. The four pairs of people created at this time are the ancestors of all Navajo today.

Changing Woman also caused the abduction of the two children of Rock Crystal Talking God. They were taken to her house in the west by way of a rainbow and a sunbeam. Here they were taught the Blessingway ceremony. They returned home to teach the ceremony to all of their people (the original Navajos saw the ceremony being taught to these children). The diyinii all gathered to learn the ceremony and to construct the original Mountain Soil bundle, containing soil from each of the sacred mountains, with which the ceremony is still conducted. The Holy People then said that, after their departure from this ceremony, they would never be seen in person again but that their presence would be manifest in the sound of the wind [níyol], the feathers [ats'os] of an Eagle, in various birds, the growth of the corn and other aspects of the world surrounding the earth surface people.The two children who had been taught the Blessingway ceremony then departed to live with the Holy People.

{*} The parentage of Changing Woman is described in several different ways by different informants; however these can be thought of as just different ways of saying the same thing. Some say that her father and mother are the Sky and the Earth. Others say her parents are sa'a naghái ashkii (boy) and bik'e hózh at'ééd (girl) as in this version. However the Sky is sometimes referred to as sa'a naghái and the Earth as bik'e hózh. In either case, Changing Woman is Earth's child, the child of the Sky and the child of the mountain. As she was planned for by First Man and First Woman and called forth by First Man, she is also their child.

Re-balancing with the Element Earth

Every element is connected to our beings.  Fire is our spirit, our passion.  Water is fluid like our emotional beings.  Air is our mental being, our breath which comes back into our life energy.  Earth is our physical body in the here and now, our foundation for the inner temple where the fire exists.  It is when we balance each element with one another that we discover true balance in living.

The element of Earth is our foundation.  It can calm the other elements, our minds, our emotions, and our spirits.  The root of all our sustenance in the physical reality.  It is here that we discover the magic of the ecosystem and its sacredness.  Especially during this time of year, the holidays combined with the winter season which tends to slow our activity level down, it is vital that we keep our Earth element in balance.
While it is important that diet and movement are incorporated into the day as sacred acts (yes even eating can be a sacred act), there are other ways to balance out the Earth element through meditation.  A simple meditation using the apple is a basis not only for tapping into meditation but also in treating food as a sacred gift and the act of eating a sacred act.  (See Apple Meditation )

(Side note:  I was asked when doing meditation what to do with your hands.  While there are literally hundreds of mudra's that can be utilized simply entwining the fingers with the thumbs touching and resting in your lap is a basic position that assists in connecting your energies.  When it is done outside I actually place the left hand on the Earth and let the right hand face upward to the skies.)

This meditation is one that I use outdoors sitting directly on Mother Earth leaning against a large piece of calcite, it can just as easily be done through visualizing yourself sitting outside in nature.

Sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes.  Begin to breath deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.  Feel the breath be drawn up through your root chakra where it meets the Earth.  Allow the root energy of the Earth to be pulled up through the base of your spine.  As you begin to experience the life energy of the Earth rise up and be exhaled through your mouth, allow the energy expelled to blow out anything that is clogging the meridians.  Feel the energy being drawn up through the Earth recharging your system.  Continue this breathing meditation for 5 to 10 minutes.

Earth energy is gentle energy that will fill your being with a soft warmth, unlike fire or water which can be a bit more vibrant.

After practicing this simple meditation, begin during your waking day to truly experience the gifts of Mother Earth.  Notice the rocks you step on, the tree's that grow to the skies, and the magic of a simple blade of grass.  All elemental balancing begins with simple exercise.  As you sit to eat, begin with thanking the food for its gift to nourish you.  Savor the food and drink as it nourishes your body.  As All things are sacred and related, it is vital to begin to treat them as such.  The more you begin to connect with Earth, the more balanced the element will become within.

I am wandering the dunes listening to the vibrating sound of silence. My soul sways on a moon ray. I let it rise.

I watch the grains of sand, which, in their reign of calmness, stay mute and small, and dance in the wind, building up the ephemeral landscapes. Stillness in movement: this is the only place where I can see it and feel it.

I am a loner, wandering the deserts, letting my hair wave in the breeze of the glowing night. The sky sparkles with stars as the embroidered veil of a desert woman. The pale face of the full moon shyly colours the sands in bluish white. The movements, in the wind, of the long silky caftan resemble the dreamlike fluttering of unknown wings. A single trepidation spoils the tranquillity of that sleepy vastness: my heart’s.

“What do you want?” I ask her.

“Boom boom boom!” she rushes.

“I can’t understand your language. You should learn mine!” I tell her resentfully.

A short, acute pain spreads into my body. She has been broken and silenced. What a relief! Now, I can enjoy my solitude in peace.

But silence is not the same without her sound, so I ask her:

“Wouldn’t you, please, try to speak to me, one more time? I’ll do my best to listen.”

A feeble startle gives me hope. Then, again the painful silence. I close my eyes and see the world of sand swirling in thousands visions blurred by the continuous passing of the colourful clouds: days and nights alternate with the speed of light, voices of distant lands and of people I have never met resound in darkness.

Out of the multitude of worlds, two fiery eyes burn my soul, the face hidden under the turban, our palms touching as if the essence of our being is flowing in between our hands. I shall never forget, and I shall always search for those eyes. I shall always remember, and I shall always feel the warmth of that hand. I shall always miss him.

“Why can’t she hear her heart, you ask? Who do you think is telling her and you the story? She is asleep, and dreaming of her fiery eyes. At least, now, she knows who to look for.”

I startled from my sleep:

“I had a dream, my heart, and you were talking to me, showing me worlds and people I have never met. What hopes are you seeding in my soul?”

“Listen!”

I stood still, and then, the desert whispered:

“Believe!”

I was born in the morning of the 5th of June 1978, in a small town on the bank of the Danube: Braila, in a beautiful country called Romania. It was a Monday, and that is why the Moon Goddess keeps shining upon me since then.

I am a Gemini, therefore an Air sign. Even if I do not believe too much in horoscopes, I really do believe and feel the power of the elements. I guess I have always been like the wind: with a poignant thirst of freedom, a wanderer, calm as a morning breeze or destroying to make place to a better Self, always on the move, with storms that swirled inside trying to escape.

I lived my life in this town for many years absorbing a cosmopolite culture and being enchanted by the beauty of its architecture and history, being for almost three hundred years under the Turkish occupation. I loved so much the traces left by this culture that, by a whimsical touch of the Universe, at around seventeen I had to go to Turkey with my family. There followed a long series of travellings in between these two countries since I was during my school years, with longer and longer periods of staying in Turkey, which I like to call 'my other Soul Country'. For seven years I marvelled at the wonders of a great country and even greater people who led their lives under the influence of a philosophy so different and strange to us, Europeans. Needless to say that I felt as home there, that whole country, all those people resonated so much with my way of being. They made me ninety per cent of what I am today because they started influencing me since I was home, in Braila, to finally put the seal on my soul in those seven years.

Then I returned home, graduated University with a license in Philology, and had a job. Meanwhile I lived the beauty of those moments which most of us like to call 'coincidence', but which I like to write under the title 'Maktub' since I found my soul mate, got married and again started wandering between countries since due to work opportunities, my husband lived in Italy. After three years of going to and fro, I decided to give all up, my whole life there in Romania and follow him here, where we currently live. We enlarged our family with a new member, a beautiful baby boy. All these beautiful things from my life could not calm down the storm I felt inside. It had no name till one day when I realized that on my way I lost something: my dream - that of writing. I had been writing since I was thirteen and all of a sudden, during my university years, I stopped, forgetting all about it or at least this was what I thought. In fact my heart was screaming from inside, was aching with the wish of being heard again.

And now, here I am, embarking on a new adventure, this time travelling for my dream, with my dream...

The Power of Water - Balancing the Fire Element - Quick Meditations and Energy Exercises

As we are purifying from the release and cutting cords, let us dive into the proverbial Shamanic waters to discover further what the essence of water can bestow upon the process.  Many know that fire is the element that I most often work with; however, all the elements must be in balance with one another to truly remain in the flow of energy.

The power of water.  Our bodies are made up of high percentage of water.  Water is sustaining, purifying, and nourishing to our bodies, to the Earth and all the kingdoms upon her.  Water can be seen in the power of the ocean waves, the gentle flow of a stream, or the stillness of a pond.  Connecting with the essence of water is simple.

A Couple of Quick meditative exercise to connect with water's energy.

• Inhale deeply while closing your eyes and hear the sound of water trickling in the back ground.  Listen to the gentle sounds and breathe the water deeply into your being as the water flows.  Experience the gentle water flowing deeper into your being.  
• Go to the beach and sit quietly closing your eyes and hearing the waves ebb and flow.  Allow the experience of the water sounds to fill your entire being starting with your toes and with each wave allowing it to rise higher and higher in your being.
• Take a shower and allow the water to gently flow over your being.  Visualize the water entering your crown and washing your spirit so that all the soul is rendered clean to leave you feeling light and energized.
• Simply take a sip of water and swish it around your mouth before swallowing it.  Experience the water as it flows down your throat.  Consciously drink the water with each sip.

Water can flow smoothly and gently, or it can cause devastating clearing through the waves.  Yet, think of the power of a tsunami.  How can water work with our collective communities?

Cords

As we look at cutting cords, let us reconsider what creates a cord first.  The cords are created with those we love, with experiences created, and with those we have clashed energies with.  This can create behavioral patterns, beliefs, and reaction mechanisms in our lives.  Cords are simply an extension of our own mind's reality.  Through experiences we have created their existence.  When they no longer serve us, we become aware, and are ready to expand our soul being it is time to release them.  They can cause exhaustion, fear, anger, nausea, anxiety, and other non beneficial emotional reactions.  They drain our energy regardless of where or why they occur.

Again to recap a simple exercise to cord cutting on your own.

• To begin, ask yourself who you may have an energetic cord with.  Write down first five names.  Begin with these.  
• Ask your higher self, your guardian angels, spirit guides, or whomever you work with to assist you.
• Visualize the first name and see the cord in your minds eye.  As you see the cord, visualize a beam of light (or a sword of light if you prefer) that slices through the energetic cord.  The best indicator as to whether the cord is actually cut, is to ask yourself.  How do you feel? 

What does water have to do with it?

Water can either be frozen tundra's or calm peaceful waters.  When we flow like water down a stream, it is then that anything of a lower frequency does not remain.  Like a leaf floating down a stream, it simply is repelled.  It is when we become the frozen tundra's of ice blocks that we can not flow but rather become stagnant.

Once cords are cut, the energy is free flowing.  It is vital that we tap into the power of the water to strengthen and continually purify our energy.  It increases our own strength.    When we remember to connect with the element of water, it is reminds us to remain fluid and not ice up with emotions of hate, fear, and anger.  It reminds us not to recoil but rather to flow through all things, all emotions.

Just as water provides power for our physical energy, the water element can provide a special reserve of power for us spiritually and energetically when we mindfully and consciously allow the flow through us.

Message from the Fires During the New Moon Despacho: A look to the future

The message from the fires during the New Moon Despacho came in various ways.  Many of "We The Women" received pieces of the message.  What I share is only my piece.  It is my hope that as we gather again in our sacred lodge, the pieces can be gathered together and the collective message can be shared.

The physical world around you may feel intense and chaotic at times as life itself unfolds.  What seemed impossible, what seemed unexpected, becomes miraculous.  The key to walking through all is to remain fearless.  Being fearless does not mean there is no fear; it means in spite of fear walking with purpose, calmly and peacefully.

Agitation arises, conflicts occur, however if remain steadfast in your soul truth it will not be swayed from the perpetual peace within.  Remember too that when we do invariably find ourselves in conflict, if we cooperate and co-create solutions rather than blame, peace and harmony will return quickly.

Any time one expands and explores, it is new.  A new beginning, a new chapter full of the unknown.  Resist the ego's desire to revert into the known and experience the expansion fully.  If you allow the experience of expansion you will allow the transformation into a beautiful new reality.  With all shifts, be it a small behavior or a critical mass shift in awareness, the appearance will always be that of chaos and destruction.  The only way to make room for new is to let go of the old.  The stabilization of reality comes from this transformation process.  Expansion requires you to be patient and loving always.  Quick reaction rather than contemplative movement will create further imbalance within.  When you trust your own inner soul guidance and remain open to the energy of love you will find it will permeate all things in your reality.  It just takes time.

This expansion is not only for your personal awareness and growth, the collective energy is shifting the global awareness and growth.  The world is birthing just as you are a new reality.  As you emerge and begin to trust the beams of light emitting from you, the Earth's newborn will too begin to trust the beams of light emerging from her.   It is within this light beams that you are each being called forward to stand in your own soul truth.  Each one must answer the call for themselves.  Each soul truth must be declared with conviction.  The active participation is vital for the new reality to finish its birthing process.

As we move into this New Year, the temptation to retract and hide will pulsate strongly to constrain the masses in fear.  While many have cut the constraints that bind, if one does not actively participate in the new higher frequency energies, the constraints will return.  Active participation does not mean to jump off into the unknown, it can mean to take consciously one step at a time.  One must remain balanced in all that they do.  Self-discipline and self-mastery are vital to understand the expansive nature of a new reality.  Otherwise, one may become lost in the confusion and chaos.  Clarity comes from within.

Stillness.  The mindful contemplation of all things - this is where the active participation is birthed.  When you act from this stillness, your soul is guided by your truth within.  Nothing will be forced, manipulated or cracked.  It is a soft nudging, a gentle flow of energy as though you are floating down the stream of energy.  Yes, there may appear to be rapids from the chaos.  There may appear to be obstacles and rocks in your path, yet, if you will still the mind, you will find your soul truth and return to the flow.

The call to the beam of light is a call to remain present in the moment, contemplate the sacredness of life, and maintain your balance within.  It is within this call that you will find the freedom of life, the opportunities for expansion, and the miracles of growth.
